I built a new home five (5) years ago. I wanted to have a nice looking garage floor that was tough. I decided I would stain it and try to get an old Tuscan looking floor. I like the epoxy look but several of my friends did that and were fighting pealing and hot tire issues. Staining made sense to me.

Just after I finsihed my home and before I moved in I had my garage floor diamond cut, then sealed the cut marks with grout, then stained my floor and sealed it with a semi gloss sealant / finish. My son and I perfomed all the work except for the diamond cutting. I have been very happy with the finish but now the semi-gloss has worn down and it is time to re-apply a new sealant / finish. This time I will go with a Gloss finish.

I am going to use 'Butterfield ClearGuard Gloss' on the floor. You cannot buy this at Home Depot, Lowes or Ace. I will start this weekend. Since my garage is a five car garage it will take a while. I have to apply two coats and I will have to do one half at a time because I have alot of,....stuff. I will show the before and after pictures soon as I trudge on through this process. the finish will be rolled on.

Here is a picture about three years ago, just to give you an idea of what I have with regard to a floor. I have posted this before but I will soon show a better before,... and after.

Regards,
Reed

OK, ...I recoated my floor this weekend as I described above. The hard work was moving things around and then back. I applied two coats of Gloss. I rolled it on. The fumes were absolutely horrible. Wore a mask and turned off the AC. You could walk on it after about six hours and I cannot park my cars on it for 72 hours.

The pictures do not do justice. But it is a big improvement over the existing coating that had worn off after five years. Much easier to keep my gagage clean.
The Butterfield Clearguard Gloss can be applied to bare concrete as well as stained. It took about five gallons to do my 900 square foot garage. Cost was $120.00 plus $15.00 in supplies for applying it.

I will show before and after pics,...hopefully.

I am glad that project is over. But it gave me a chance to clean up my shop and toolboxes. Hopefully, it will be at least five more years. Later

That look awesome. Turned out real nice, it blends in nice with the cabinets and darkers items in your garage. Should be really easy to clean and sweep when dirty.
