Wondered what experiences have been with CPO reconditioned Milwaukee battery power tools. Looking at a M18 1/2 impact but nervous.

It's hit and miss. You can always send it back if you don't like it. I've ordered from them and had to take my saw right to the repair shop for warranty. The milwaukee guy didn't notice the vice was stripped out.

Depends on the discount, 10% wouldn't be enough for me...I would consider it at 20%.

I picked up a Makita LXT recip saw a few years ago from them. Looks and works like new. I already had other LXT tools so all I needed was the bare tool.

I've bought a Milwaukee 1/2 impact, looked new, only thing that I did notice, serial number and markings that it was reconditioned were engraved on it, worked flawlessly, I've also bought a rigid staple gun, for almost half off, and it works flawlessly as well, new condition as well

I've never bought a cordless reconditioned tool but the corded drywall screwgun and rotozip I bought a couple of years ago are great. I don't do a ton of drywall so spending full price on new tools didn't make sense. Only difference I could find between the new and the reconditioned ones I bought are that they came in plain cardboard boxes instead of the printed full color retail packages you see.

I'd be suspicious about the batteries on a cordless reconditioned tool unless they come with a guarantee of some sort.

I've bought all of my Bosch 12V tools from CPO - most reconditioned, a couple new. I've also bought several Bosch lasers and measuring tools from them. The only issue I have had in all of my orders was a battery charger that was DOA - a quick phone call and I had a replacement in a couple of days.

I believe the batteries have some sort of warranty, but I haven't had any issues with any of my 12V batteries.

I read somewhere that the advantage of CPO is that you have a factory-made tool being rebuilt by factory or factory-trained techs who go over the whole tool and check/tweak it for things beyond the problem for which it was returned. I've had a CPO Bosch 18v impact driver for the last several years. No problems except maybe the batteries are weakening by not holding a charge quite as long. I guess you can always have one that slips through the cracks, but I recommend CPO tools.

I bought a Rdigid 3 1/2" full round head framing gun. Looked brand new when I got it. Included all paperwork and the original Ridgid carrying bag. It does have recon stamped in a plastic part but works well. I paid 129 shipped for it and the new ones are 229. I used it to frame my 40x40 pole barn and build a 12x16 shed so far and no problems. Over 2k nails been through it

I bought a refurb Milwaukee circular saw, Milwaukee Super Sawzall, and a Bosch 1617 router from them. It's probably been around 6-7 years since I got them and all have been working well. However I don't use any of them very often so I haven't put them to a very difficult test. But I would order more from them. My next big purchase is a cordless impact driver and if the price is right, I would buy it from CPO.

I have yet to buy a cordless tool from them so I don't know how the quality of batteries they send out is. That would worry me the most probably.

Got a Dewalt 20v impact driver about 3 months ago. Use it almost every day. Still has an odd electrical smell but works PERFECT. It showed up in almost new condition. Considered sending it back because of the smell but it works great and shows no indication of less speed or torque.

It's my 3rd Dewalt impact, 1st 20v tho.
