Anybody here recognize this vintage "X" wrench? It's got me puzzled. No name. Says "Nickel Molybdenum" on one side and a patent number on the other. (What's patentable about this wrench, anyway?) Nice design style, though.

Well ain't you fellers an model of knowledgeability...thanks much!

not so much knowledgeable as lucky... happend to pass by that x logo on alloy a short while back... they have a section for cross refferencing trademarks and logos.... found it there to confirm manufacturer... then went to manufacturer listing on main page

that x is one of those marks that stands out and easy to remember..

Bolster,

Looks like others have correctly ID'd the manufacturer. Alloy Artifacts is a very reliable source and handy picture reference for tools. Their website leaves something to be desired though; searches are very difficult and the index is scant.

Now to the wrench...very handsome, and the design (X & darts) on the beam is cool. Where did you come up with that specimen? I've never run across one like that.

Sometimes I've searched A-A by using google's search-within-a-site function and it works pretty well, but in this case I had no idea what to search for!

The wrench showed up in a pile of other wrenches on the ground at a swap meet. I'd never seen one like it either. And whoever heard of Nickel Moly?

Since I tend to buy wrenches based on style...it follered me home.
