I'm kind of stuck on how to insulate the roof on this garage. first of all let me start by saying it will have a hanging dayton electric heater. it is 22x22, 2 bay garage and has around 8-9 ft ceiling. As you can see i had no intention of inulating it before and hung lights directly to the beams. is there a way i can insulate this without having to install a drop ceiling or worry about vents etc. i was thinking about just running foil faced insulation in between the beams and covering them with paneling. I would like to know what the pros would do in this situation. thanks!

How big are the 2-bys in the ceiling? You could insulate up to within 2-3" of the top (you need air over the insulation) with cotton or cellulose batts, or TIGHT foam sheets between. Sheet rock over that, using the Airtight Drywall Approach. Re-hang the lights. If you want to go nuts, you can also insulate w/ batts then install 1-2" of foam against the bottom of the 2-bys, then sheet rock over that. Do your level best to stop AIR from escaping into the insulation.
