recomended space around a two post carlift

so i want to build an adon to my bunkergarage and that space would be intendet for one car lift and a storage space just the question how much space do i need to have around the lift is 4 feet space alaround the car enough for all working on the car when it is on the lift

Gud,

My bay is 20' wide with a bendpak xp-10. I have a 10' wide door centered in the bay. What I noticed as I stood the lift up and got ready to install was that centering it in the space was good but if you look at where the lift actually touches the car and where the lift aligned with my garage door I could easily off set it 12-16" in either direction. I offset mine with the power unit side closer to the wall so I have about 6' clear on one side and 4' on the other. just a thought.. YMMV
