I don't think he is wrong, but he may just have different experiences with them.
The videos are on page 2 of this thread. The second video compares the internals for the HF with the Snap-On gun and both guns looked to have good quality parts.
Thanks for all the input guys. I grew up in a house that literally only had a crescent wrench, hammer and pliers along with a handful of beat up screwdrivers. Because of that I LOVE high quality tools. I always try to buy quality that makes me proud to own it. I try to get best in class whenever I buy. So, what I am trying to purchase is the best 1/2" quiet impact wrench. So what is the best in class for 1/2" and 3/8"? I am not as concerned about bang for my buck. I spend money on good scotch and tools and save it the the areas that aren't important to me like fancy electronics, clothes etc.
Your choices come down to 2 in my view
MT2769 wins in power and also has a "customizable" exhaust but it is a little loud.
2235QTIMAX wins in noise (easily)
Construction wise they're both similar with a slight nod to IR for better feeling plastics, cleaner castings, and the use of a wear plate on the front motor.
For 3/8 there is really no comparison, MT2220 is the best by far. Its noisy compared to a 2115QTIMAX but it has far superior torque and like its bigger brother can also be muffled down to a tolerable level while still maintaining its substantial power lead.
I've used the AWP/JRC impacts and while the power is good and the noise isn't bad I personally could never get use to the dinky direction switch behind the trigger. The power adjustment is also terrible second only to the horrid Snap-On.

About 30 ft-lbs of torque less on the quiet version. That is the reason I opted to get the standard version myself.
If you will be using this all day, then the quiet version will be worth getting. If you will be using this for max breaking power (like me), then getting the standard version would be better. I use my quite 2115 as my main gun and only break this out if the 2115 won't get it out.

How much do you value quietness? For me, it's pretty important, so I'm usually willing to accept a loss in power for a little less noise, even though I wear hearing protection if I'm really getting on it.

I wear ear plugs when I work in my shop/garage. I have permanent hearing damage and wear hearing aids from loud shop noise, motorcycle, loud cars, gun range, and my home audio stuff. So I wear hearing protection like it's my job.

Hf is usually known for disposal craps. Lets say i buy hf dremel tool or dremel... dremel outlasts hf and worth buck bang for long run. Same goes with Aircat>Earth Break

Apparently every tool at harbor freight has the exact same level of quality and durability. Nevermind all the comparison videos or positive testimonials. Some guy compared it to their electric dremel knockoff.

some of the harbor freight tools will surprise you.After having my second Bosch Brute jackhammer stolen I figured I would give the harbor freight model a try . with coupons and discount and adding in extended warranty it was about a third of the price. two yrs now and my crew has no complaints and says the don't see any difference and like the hf model because the directions say to let the weight of the hammer work and don't force it down so basically you just stabilize and push the trigger. it has busted 6" slabs with no problem
Yes harbor freight can surprise you. About 7 years ago I bought cement mixer there. When I brought it home my dad and I were laughing and how cheaply made it looked and were wondering how long it would last. It still works today and we have used it to mix up over 1,100 80lb bags of quickcrete .
