Lets keep this "reasonable". Under $20. Under $10 even better.

  1. It has to be a incandescent LIGHT, no LED ! I want to "load the circuit" with ¼ - ½ amp.
  2. Good quality cord, 10+'. Coiled would be nice, but not required.
  3. Good HD alligator/crocodile clip. Big enough to grab a battery cable bolt with adequate pressure.

I'd look around. Auto parts stores. It's easy to tell the cheap ones from the nice ones. I agree about the leds. Don't have a use for them either.
I had a coiled cord hated it so much I replaced the cord with some test lead wires from my rat pile of wires.
I use a snap on I've had for years... $$$. Also have some I purchased on the cheap when I see them. Not sure where I got them from. Most are no name ones. It's nice to have a few on hand.
Best one I made from an old 12 volt trouble light. Added a big clip to one wire. And soldered a t pin to the other. Nice thing to load the circuit and as a bonus it still works as a light. Added a switch and a buzzer for when I can't see the light. Good for a wiggle testing.

My suggestion is to look around at the local parts and hardware stores.

I have tried just about all of them and I like the Sears ones the best. They have both a regular size and the mini, I actually prefer the mini. I believe they are rebranded OTC.

Their automotive logic test probe is pretty nice too. I have used it several times for finding short circuits in my vehicles.

I've used both on and off for almost 10 years now and they are pretty handy to have.
