Need a handheld circular saw with a dust port so that it can be hooked up to a shop vac. This is for light DIY use, so corded and not expensive. And the dust port should actually be effective in capturing a good percentage of the sawdust.

Preferably with blade on left side so I can see the cut line when operating the saw with my right hand. Sidewinder or worm drive is OK, but seems the worm drives are more expensive.

Older models are fine, as I can check eBay and Craigslist for used saws.

Whatcha got, GJ? [emoji2]

An older model Porter-Cable is probably what you'll have to do because vacuum port blade-left saws seem to be getting rare these days.

As an example:

I like that the dust collection is at the front of the saw. Seems you can no longer buy the dust nozzle for this saw.

So I guess I'd have to buy a used saw that came with it, or fabricate one.

Bosch is the only circular saw maker I know that has dust collection available. I know there are some people that take the $12 Bosch dust port and bolt it on to other saws.

Surprising that we don't see more dust collection options for circular saws. I guess people with frequent saw needs have table saws, so dust collection isn't a priority for handheld circular saws?

Kinda. Framers don't care too much. Finish carpenters now use track saws so much more than circular saws.

You can connect a vacuum to a circular saw but you can't collect dust from it effectively. The shoe opening is way too large for effective dust collection. I would expect dust collection on a circular saw to be 30~40% effective. It would be better than nothing, I suppose.

That Grizzly track saw has decent dust collection. I have one. It's not nearly as good as the Festool, though. That Festool can cut MDF and barely leave noticeable dust when using a strong vacuum. The Grizzly isn't even close to that but the majority of dust is certainly collected.

I don't expect dust collection from a circular saw to be great, but it seems it can be better than 30-40%. Check out the before/after in this video:

Also, the manufacturer, Eurekazone.com, also makes a bunch of other stuff for circular saws. A shoe that screws on to your saw that lets it have a splitter and lets it attach to this beefy saw guide for super straight cuts (if you already have one straight cut). They also make tons of other stuff.
