Just wanted to follow up with you. Been running the Honda eu2000i for 3 days now, alternating between fridge and furnace. From what I hear, we have another 3-4 days to go. Left my wife at home with a full tank, and came back 8 hours later and it was still running! She didnt top it off or turn it off all day! Mind you people here are starting to panic because of limited availability of gas. Over 1 hour lines when stations get power.

Meanwhile my neighbor has a 15kW monster that ***** a gallon an hour. Fortunately for him, he's got me hunting for gas for him (he's working 16 hr shifts for the local power company and has a full house because the in laws house is gone/flooded and I owe him big time for things he's done for me).

So really think about your needs and fuel consumption. Everything will be some kind of compromise, but as long as you have heat and a roof overhead, it's a lot easier to manage.

Edit: doh! Just realized original poster is in NYC. So he knows what I'm talking about!

I cannot speaking more highly about the harbor freight 7000/8750w generator. We used it for the first time this week. Ran my entire house like a champ. I have since regained power so I move the generator to my sisters house. Totally worth the $600 I paid for it.

Although its use will come to an end soon. No gas to be found.
