Wind storm last week blew off one of my plastic shutters and snapped most of the fasteners in the process. Since I have to buy new fasteners, paint matching them to the faded shutters isn't going to work so I'm just going to paint all the shutters What is a good spray paint for this application? Thanks

Krylon made for plastic is a good paint. Have the other shutters been painted in the past, or are they just faded factory in color?

Krylon "Fuson" is quite good for plastic. It can expand and contract with the plastic it covers... IMHO, that's a good thing.

I used the Krylon Fusion a few years ago on some PVC that's outdoors. Worked great. Clean the plastic with a solvent that dries with no residue and follow directions.

They are original to house, built in 1998, just uv faded.

Krylon Fusion was actually the type I was trying to remember bc I had heard good things about it a while back. Thanks for jogging my memory, guys.

I agree. I have no complaints with Krylon Fusion. Highly recommend.

Krylon Fusion is a great paint when you prep properly. That type of plastic has a somewhat "chalky" residue when aged or faded. Make sure to prep thoroughly. Possibly a chemical prep or pressure wash them.

Krylon fusion is reasonably good, but you are limited in color choices. If the color you want is available, just clean the plastic well, and have at it.
I'd wash it with soap and water, and scotchbrite the surface to get down to something solid (if it is chalky), and wipe down with denatured alcohol.

Another option, is to look at how plastic bumpers are painted.
Sem makes a chemical cleaner, and also a flexible plastic spray primer. On top of the primer, you can use any paint you want, that is flexible enough to be used over plastic.
Actually, if it were up to me, I'd use the plastic primer, and brush on an exterior latex house paint on top.

Krylon Fusion is a great paint but just so you some of the plastic shutters can not be painted as they will fish eye no matter what you prep with, I would try one first....

I painted the interior of my Jeep mores imbed then I can remember with Krylon Fusion. The key is to prep the surface and make sure it's clean like a few other folks mentioned. I used ammonia based Windex and that seemed to do the trick. Multiple light coats also makes it last a lot longer.
