Which cordless tool brand do you use? I prefer using my Makita 18V LED light.

Milwaukee has a really nice selection of M18 and M12 LED lights as well.

i've got some dewalt 14.4, and and slowly transitioning to the 20v dewalt system. i'm a little hesitant to go all out into a battery system

I haven't used a halogen worklight in years haven't missed it ether  I have both a dual stand light and smaller one.

For cordless LED similar in shape and form to many small halogen worklights I simply like the Milwaukee M12 rover. A lot of light. plus a magnet and spring clip base. I bent up a U shaped hook and it makes a great underhood light. There is also a funky M18 version of that light.

For battery and corded use the 2360 M18 Rover has swivel base there is a deal out there right now light, battery and charger for the original price of just the light and of course there are also the "rocket" style tripod stand lights. None of these options are cheap though the Mi2 being the least expensive well under $100 with a free battery.

Milwaukee also markets a true underhood syle light on their M12 cordless platform.

The stick style Brauns at HF are decent enough and pretty cheap too.

There are other brands of course...many options there.

I really like the Milwaukee M18 worklight. #2735-20 Its got 4-6 hours of "flashlight" on a 2 or 2.5 Ah battery which can be recharged in ~20 minutes.

If one is already into the M18 platform then I think its around $35.

One of the usual suspects posted a teardown on YouTube. The lights are of course made in the usual place, but they are the real deal pro equipment. The box claims 4.4 Ah of battery that runs for 4 hours. Beware of clones that skimp on battery configuration.

The current shipping version includes magnetic feet so you can stick it on most any piece of equipment as needed.

FWIW... I left my harbor freight Braun on the cross member of my truck for week before I realized it and it was still stuck there.

Being an "old guy" I often find I need some extra light. I find the above mentioned HF Braun light a perfect solution. If I'm working on the bench I usually have it stuck to a piece of plate to keep it stable.

If you decide on this light pick up a a charger and a couple of 18650 batteries for it. The in light charging takes a while and being able to swap a fresh battery in makes it more convenient. Those batteries and chargers a very common and available online.

I left it in the wheel well of the Durango and it fell off doing 30 and I ran it over... still works.

I forgot it stuck to the oil pan of my Excursion... noticed it a couple hundred miles later... still works.

Best part is it was only $20 so I really don't feel bad abusing it.

The Harbor Freight Braun light is BY FAR the best!

Those Braun lights seem to have a good reputation around here, especially for the cost and availability.

I have a smaller HF and it has been a decent light considering it's price. It's about half the length of the Braun so it might get into tighter spots. I had a HF email with a coupon for $3.99. If you couple that with a pack of free cleaning cloths or magnetic parts tray you can get both for less than a $5 out the door.
