I've got a 32x28 with 28x12 attic. I'm seeing some good prices on minisplits and think it might be the time to buy. I'm planning separate 9k unit for the attic and 18k for the garage. Looking for heat pumps.

What have you purchased that you would get again, with no qualms? I know mitsubishi is great, but they aren't cheap. How about any other brands,

Another question....is a DIY install feasible? I have a vacuum pump and have already put the outside disconnect boxes in place. Are any units set up with pre-charged lines? This is how I did a central AC install myself about 35 years ago.

Final question. Why not let the condensate drain line drain to the exterior?

Thanks!
Tom

Your sizing seems about right. Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and Daikin are the top brands. F & D do not warranty on-line sold units. Mitsubishi does. All brands that I am aware of have a holding charge. Each manuf specs vary, frequently by model/size. Make sure you completely understand each models individual specs prior to buying

I have a Mitsu with heat pump in my 36x28 shop/garage... only thing I don't like is that the lowest you can set it is 59 degrees... id like to set it lower in the winter... my condensate is plumbed outside.
