Recommend a Pipe Notcher?

Not an everyday tool for me, but I hate junk.

Needle bearing VS. bushing?

What else should I look out for?

I used the harbor freight one just fine. For someone that won't use it all the time it'll probably suit you just fine. The others on the market were a lot more expensive.

I've been using a JD2 notchmaster for a few years. Good tool, but if I had to buy it over again, I would probably go for the JMR notcher. More flexibility for angle cuts.

IMO the harbor freight and similar "notchers" aren't worth using. Just do the notches manually, using a cutoff wheel. Less frustration.

I got one from Van Sant trick tools years ago, to build bike frames, it is very ridged and accurate.

Buy either a lathe or a mill. Then you will have a tool which will do something more than 1% of the time.

First, you want a tubing notcher, not a pipe notcher. If you don't know the difference between pipe and tubing then you shouldn't be asking this question.

If money is no object you want a Baileigh TN-600 or a TN-800

At the other end is the Williams Lowbuck Tubing Notcher. It will notch .134 wall mild steel, .095 wall 4130 (chromoly)
