Recommend a power drain snake

Looking to purchase a power drain snake to clean sewer lines up to 4". This is not a tool I would be using all the time, maybe once a year to clear out my waste lines at my house and shop also the occasional emergency at a friend or neighbors house. 50 feet of cable is plenty long for what I need. don't want to spend 1000+ dollars. I looked at the HF heavy duty model but I am afraid of a Chinese snake snapping off in my drain line! Any recommendations?

Ridgid is the way to go. I work in maintenance at hospital and that's all we use. If you're not going to use it much, it may be a better idea just to rent one as needed from Home Depot. It might be $30-40+/- for 4 hours. A good Ridgid or similar quality snake will be around $500+/-

I'm a plumber by trade and do occasional side jobs like that, but not enough to justify spending that much on a snake. And I'm damn sure not buying one from HF.

I second Ridgid. Be sure you get the 1/2" cable model, it's better when you go 4". 75' is what I would recommend.

Ridgid is the go to name for drain snake machines. Sometimes you can find one cheap on CL, but it will probably be missing all the attachments or need repair.
As stated, renting one is the way to go if you only need it once or twice a year. Also saves you from having to store a big heavy machine.

The new M12 one from Milwaukee is around $200. If you plan to use it more than a few times it might make more sense than renting.
