Recommend a reliable 1 or 2 ton jack

I rarely need a jack. Last yard sale I sold a really old jack that I'm sure would last 2 lifetimes. But just moving it would give a hernea and I rarely use a jack. When I do, it's not usually on a vehicle. I sold the jack to a guy and his adult son. He knew he was getting a great deal and I felt good about that.

Still, I'd like to have one around. Something easier to move and low enough to get under, say a tool box. I'd like to get a jack I know will work when I need it.

Under $100 would be ideal

Norco 2-ton low-profile - but it certainly won't be under $100. Omega might be a cheaper, but reliable, possibility. Perhaps also American Forge and Foundry - AFF also make a Viking label, but I'm not sure off the top of my head which of those labels is better. I have seen either AFF or Viking in the bays at Discount Tire locations and I know they get heavy usage there!

The aluminum racing 1.5 ton jack at Harbor Freight is around $60 and very light.

It's as reliable as any other imported jack.

Thanks...I think. I was at HF today and bought the blue/silver 1.5 Racing jack, but it was $79. I was at PepBoys yesterday killing time, but just didn't care for the Goodyear or the Torin they had.

I almost went with the 2 ton at HF, which was on sale for $120, but I don't need the 2 ton and I wanted the smaller footprint of the 1 ton. Not much I know, but every inch counts in my half of the garage.

Came home, jacked up my Milwaukee workbench (which was still on the shipping crate) and installed all 4 caster wheels, including the 2 swivel wheels I bought at HF. Now I have 4 swivel wheels.

EDIT: Seriously?!?!? Just after I posted this, I received an email from HF. Coupon for the jack, $60!! I have to make visit tomorrow

A used hein Werner would be nice. Even if it needs a rebuild.

That's the route I went. It is light and easy to move. I had a beast before. Probably last 10 lifetimes and lift a house, but I'm not kidding when I say my side would hurt just moving the thing. Of course, I'm not 20 anymore either... I sold it to a guy and his adult son. I knew it was worth more, but I remember asking just enough to buy a replacement at a later date. $50 maybe??? He was happy and so was I, err....my wife. She hated that thing! She's actually a little irritated I have a new one, but they haven't met yet

Maybe I can upgrade them but Unfortunately I can't get rid of the big ones in the shop and I totally agree they seem to be getting heavier as I get older... though when it comes to light weight the HF is awesome and it gets the job done. I've picked up trailers even one with a boat on it, my jeep, cars, small equipment... it's never skipped a beat...

Should have kept your old one as nothing will be as good really if it was USA made I gave up on trying to find one and bought a blue point 3.5t for $180 hardly used and its super heavy and large and too big for my needs but only one available around me. A good option is the Daytona jack from HF it's sweet but costs $179. The aluminum for $60 is your only option really.
