I need another shop vac. Do you have one you like? If so, what is it?

I have a Fein Turbo II that is great but I'm tired of carrying it from the basement into the garage and back again. I was going to buy another Fein but it's been 11 years since I bought this one and maybe there are better values out there now.

What I like about the Fein:

Long cord - 15 feet
Long hose - 16 feet
Great suction and air volume
Quite - just 58 dB
Bags to take the dirt away

I think the one thing I REALLY have to have is quiet.

I've got a new FEIN Turbo II HEPA & cannot believe how quiet it is......I even vacuum off the dogs with it to get rid of extra loose hair.

I'd vote for a 2nd FEIN.....the first one lasted you 11 years.....that says something about quality.

How often do you use your shop-vac? And for what?

Your needs help determine the make and model that best suit you.

Personally, I am a weekend warrior that has had the same Craftsman 6HP 16 gallon wet-vac for at least ten years. Replaced the original paper filter with a synthetic from HD about 8 years ago and clean it semi-regularly. Works great, ***** much more frequently and harder than my wife.

That is my favorite feature of my Fein Turbo II.

I have the old 4 wheel Turbo II, and it was rated at around 58db.
The replacement 6 wheel Turbo II was the same volume.
That was discontinued in June, and the current Turbo II is 67db! WTF?!?

The new louder Turbo II does have more airflow, but I'm quite happy with what I've got now.

Here's a different suggestion. Check out the Stihl SE122.
It is 62db, and about the same performance as the old Turbo II, though I do not know if it can be HEPA like the Fein. It also does not take bags, but it has a washable filter (I put a Gore washable filter in my Fein anyway).
It is made by Nilfisk.

Another friend of mine just bought a Festool vacuum, and is very happy with it. I have not heard it running to compare noise level though.

I have a "Rigid" from Home Depot. Very good and durable. Plenty of replacement parts available in store.
