Recommend an adapter kit for Stant 12270

I was looking at coolant pressure testers with adapters and after a good search I found that the stant 12270 has always been and probably will always be the best pressure tester man will ever know according to everyone who has them. Check. Got it.

Now, the part thats not universally known is who makes a good complete set of good adapters for a decent price? I dont want to have to get a new adapter every time I encounter a new make for my first year and end up with all of them floating in a drawer. Id like a case if at all possible to keep them in one spot and replacements being available for purchase/warranty is a big plus.

Blue point has a bladder type kit for ~500 bucks and an aluminum kit for almost 1000. Thats a lot of money. Other than that theres plenty of small kits of "universal" adapters with mixed reviews everywhere and of course theres kits with plastic reservoir cap type adapters for all kinds of makes and models but they get pretty mixed reviews as well.

What do you guys have? How long have you had it? Has it ever failed?

I have never seen a kit with a bunch of adapters, and I would never buy one that was made by some no-name Chinese Amazon eBay company. I purchased the individual ones when they were needed, most from RockAuto. Stanton, OEM and OTC are the adapters that I have, never had an issue with any of them.

I've just purchased as needed and have them to do most vehicles now. Once in a while I'll run into one I dont have and order it. All of mine are stant or ast brand. I have been tempted to buy one of those 100 dollar kits that covers a ton of vehicles just to fill in the gaps I may not have. Two of my adapters almost cost that much. But just haven't been able to bring myself to do it yet since I have most adapters I need already.

The vast majority of cooling system pressure testers and adapter are made by Stant, regardless of who name is on it.

was in the same boat as the OP a year ago. After carefully looking at the adapter catalog I concluded that a large number of Japanese cars were supported with just a couple adapters. So I got those two, and would fill in the blanks as needed, at probably $40 or so a pop. OP take a look at the catalog, you might find you can make do with far fewer than you think.

Mac guy tried to sell me the stant pump only, when I asked about adapters, he pulled out the $400 master set, said no thanks

I've got the matco hand pump one because is came with the 4 most common adapters, haven't run into a car it wouldn't work on. 2 threaded ones for pressurized overflows and two radiator cap types

If I run across a car that uses something different and can't find the leak without? You can take your PITA over priced german car to the dealer, I probably don't want to work on it anyway

someone told me you don't want the ones with the bladders, they probably don't seal well

Once upon a time, this was the case. However, I'd say in the last 5-10 years, AST probably puts out more adapters.

Back to the topic, OTC makes a test kit wherein you tap into one of the overflow tank hoses to apply pressure.

hello, funny enough im in the same boat as you, im looking to buy a second hand stant pump off marketplace and want to have a nice set of adaptors, i only really need one for the brand i work for however wondering if you found a nice non plastic set since i also do work on the side on other brands, thanks

I have the Snappy version of the Stant. I never knew there were adapters, so I bought a mega kit from amazon. It works, but I hate the idea of a plastic pump.
