Recommend an exhaust fan

I'm getting sick of the welding fumes and dust when grinding, etc...

I have a 30x40 shop with 11 ft ceilings and 2x6 walls. I want something that will help clear the air.

Problem I see is the depth may make it tricky for my 2x6 walls and it is a bit underpowered for what I may need CFM wise, but the price is right, it's a simple plug and play for the electrical, and it is far better than what I have now...
Any advice? What have you done?

I put this one in my ceiling. It was $80 when I got it. Now it's more -- but still a little less than the one you're looking at.

I have the same issue...
I am considering putting in a fan like the one Jack shows...I was just unsure if it would work or possibly be overkill.
Wonder if there would be an easy way to make it variable speed.

I have 28'x28' x14' addition shop and I use (2) 18" shutter fans on dimmer switchs. they are Dayton fans, expensive but they work great.

Jack, Do you vent it into the attic above your garage? Or do you have a vent kit that vents it out the roof or the gable end?

I use a squirrel cage blower with a 1/3hp seal motor. Direct vent to outside. It will clear my 25x35 foot garage very quickly. I just open the window on the far end, turn it on. Cost? $5 at auction

I have one loke the OP listed in post #1, but with more CFM's.

I love it!

Mine is variable speed. On low it is good general ventilation then when I am doing something dusty or Chemically Nasty I love the ability to turn it up and change all the air in the garage within minutes.

I am pretty sure it is mounted on the FLAT ROOF of the garage. He had a picture of it on a post he did.
