Recommend bore brushes

Have you guys found that any brand of bore brushes, for use in an impact driver, works better than the other brands?

This would be, mostly, for cleaning out brake slider pin ports.

Obviously, they need to be the kind that work in 1/4” impact drivers.

Oh damn I didn’t know this was a thing. I used a paper towel wrapped around a straight pick to clean out the slider pin tube in brake calipers last time I did it. I’ll be ordering one of these soon!

Have the pictured kit, has worked reasonably well for helping clean out blocked EGR ports and such.

Oh damn I didn’t know this was a thing. I used a paper towel wrapped around a straight pick to clean out the slider pin tube in brake calipers last time I did it. I’ll be ordering one of these soon!

I use paper towel (the blue shop kind) to clean out the boots, but I use a bore brush with a handle to clean out the slider ports.

I have been wanting to switch to bore brushes that go in an impact driver or drill.

oh I just figure to replace the boots each time because their rubber and cheap. Brakes might go 5 to 10 years depending how much you drive and idk if a used piece of rubber going to make it another 10 years tbh

but maybe if you go that long between brake jobs maybe you should clean and relube the pins every few years? And you could see then if the boots need changing

I always just reuse them, but I am careful not to get brake cleaner on them.

Same set for me too. It's been durable, though the steel brushes, and particularly the brass brushes, get compacted, but that's to be expected. The nylon brushes have held up incredibly well with a lot of use.

I also have a set made by Grip that has a screwdriver loke handle and hex drive brushes. Also rebranded by many other importers. Soso quality

If you can order something from Osborne or weider or Walter that will work it would be much higher quality

Piece of rod with a slit cut in the end so you can stick emery cloth in it and do a wrap or two around the rod. Stick it in the drill and go to town. Way quicker and more effective than a brush.

I bought a smaller set of what looks to be the identical brushes in a blister pack from hobo frt for only a few bucks.
I consider the brushes disposable, the 1/4" hex drive extension that comes with them is handy for other uses.

I have the generic set pictured above. For the $ it's OK, but the steel brushes do not last long, at all, for me. One or two uses and they're shot.

Same set as above, I have only used the nylon ones. Noticed this set with a handle at Harbor Freight yesterday.
