Recommend Gas Soldering Iron

My trusted 20 year old gas powered soldering iron just died or actually started leaking.
It was a no brand so im after a recommendation. The smaller 75watt snap on kit is pretty good value but ive not seen it in person and then there is the weller model which is expensive but I reckon it'd be good..

I have a portersol mk2 tgat ive gotta had well over 10 years and its been brill, cant fault it at all.

I've had good luck with the little $20 soldering iron from radio shack. As long as you don't run to hot and keep the tip clean they last a good while. It is about palm sized as well so you can get into some tight spots.

The snap on is a portasol which ever way you can buy one for less $ in AU is what I would do

I have the pencil one from Blue Point and it's alright for inside applications. If I have to do anything outside where a slight breeze can **** the heat away, I use a Power Probe like the one pictured here:

If I had only one, I'd go with the Power Probe. It also makes a handy little torch.

I have a Portasol at work. It works quite well, other than the open flame is flakey, sometimes it works well, other times not. Anyone else have this problem?

Ahh Colin just noticed your signature.. How is the island these days? Used to play rugby there occasionally many years ago.. think the ground is called waterside?
