Anyone have some favorite long lasting casters? My heavy duty workbench needs to be movable. The bench loaded weighs about 1500 pounds. Its on concrete floor and I need to move it several feet a few times a month. Height is not really an issue but would prefer not to increase more than 5". I like the softer wheels but worry about life with the heavy weight. Maybe cast iron? Anyone have some good ones lasting for years?

I've been using these for a while, under my shop tools. 700 lb capacity each, and can't beat the price. They actually have roller bearings in them. If not these, maybe they have something with more capacity for you.

If you do a lot of banging on the table, get over rated casters to handle the impact. Is it just 4 legs or are there intermediate legs? Maybe retractable casters are option?

Also keep in mind that 4x 1500lbs caster does NOT = 6000lbs of support
That's best case on a perfectly balanced load and glass smooth rolling surface

Double or even triple your caster rating especially for a work table

"Maybe retractable casters are option?"
Found this on the interweb many yrs ago, buddy built it, works well.
Could even modify that design slightly. Use 2 pins on each channel to keep it lowered (wheels down) after the jack forces the channel down. Move 1 jack between the 2 sides.

I for years had a table with two fixed wheels on one end and the other end was picked up with a floor jack to move around. One advantage to that was the table was stable when set down. Something to think about is the motion you need. 4 swivel castors, two fixed and two swivel, or 4 fixed so that it just rolls in one direction. Holding in position, do you need wheel locks or a brake? https://www.google.com/search?lr=&s...sJKAB6BAgeEAE&ictx=0&biw=1280&bih=607&dpr=1.5

Late answer, but Albion is what I've always used in designs. Not cheap, but excellent quality. Whatever you buy from McMaster that's not listed as a budget choice, if they even have that, will be industrial quality.
