Hi all, looking to get my 40x80x14 closed in before winter. Time to buy an overhead door. The opening is 12'w x 14'h. Any reputable online retailers? Just looking for something insulated. Will do the install myself. Looking to use the roll up style.

we had one installed by I believe Rytec at work. It appears to be aluminum and glass and will go up and down in about 2 seconds. I heard they can travel 100 ft per second. Problem is cost-15k.

I went through this last spring. rollupdoorsdirect.com had the cheapest price and was a good experience. They, and many others, sell the same Janus doors. You can tell because the model numbers are the same across vendors. Those are sheet doors, not slatted.

One thing that I wish I had done differently is that my rough opening was 14' 2" wide to allow trim boards to bring the opening down to 14'. That extra 2 inches in width was about $300 more in cost. If I'd realized the difference, I would have furred the rough opening down to 14'.

Installing it was a fun challenge. My insulated, wind-rated door weighs about 600 lbs.

To be clear are you talking about a roll up corrugated metal type, or a conventional residential sectional door?

Rather than going online, there's probably a garage door shop somewhere in your area - for instance, the Overhead Door company has retail outlets all over the country, you can find one close to you on their website. Then, you can just go and pick it up rather than having to wait for it to be shipped from somewhere far away.

Corrugated metal type. Didn't want to deal with the track. Didn't think of overhead door..they didn't come to mind when I was think of roll up style doors.

Spend the extra money and get one that's insulated. I put a 4' wide roll up door as my man door on my garage when we built our house. I didn't get an insulated one. It radiated an amazing amount of heat. I just replaced it with a custom ordered insulated steel door. The outside of that door can be hot to the touch, and the inside is cool. And water tight.

Raynor is one of the better ones. We have maybe 18 of them at work. If possible we still use commercial sectional/track door if there is space due to the issues with roll up doors
