I got a squat rack, weight tree, and a few other metal items I'd like to freshen up with my HVLP. Please recommend me a durable paint. I've heard great things about John Deere Blitz Black, unfortunately I reside in CA. Anyone know how to go about getting a gallon of this stuff? If that is not an option, should I just use Rustoleum? Thanks in advance.

I have had pretty good luck with the quarts of rustolem from HD/Lowes.

Used it to freshen up inside cabinets on the boat, painted my jib crane post, trash cans, railings on the deck and my O/A Torch cart.

It sprays decent and rolls pretty well too.

Try Valspar tractor and implement paint. It is extremely durable and many use it to paint car frames etc.

Thanks. They got it on Amazon. Fingers are crossed that they will ship to CA. Should I bother with the hardener?

Definitely use something with hardener. Hardened paint will be best for durability.

Everything of real value I paint is done with Klass Kote, a two part epoxy. From live steam miniature locomotives to antique marine engines. It will resist almost anything except lacquer thinner, it's base thinner. It's not cheap but you won't paint it ever again. It can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed and is aimed at the hobby industry so is reasonably safe. Good to +500deg f as well.

Does anyone know why CA has a ban on certain paints? They wont even allow gallons of plastidip to be sold in CA? What is it in the paint that isn't tolerated here?
