I have a 1 stage husky 60 gal compressor, it works fine but want a bit bigger. I want a 2 stage compressor with at least 20 Scfm @ 90 psi, prefer 25. Want to stay in the $2,000 area if possible. Want to see what people here recommend. This is for home use and I know it's over kill but I like over kill lol!

Current setup I just built (nothing crazy like on here) Not to bad for 1st setup I hope.

Do you have a reason for wanting such a big compressor, or is it just for bragging rights? What is your budget, what power do you have to drive it? How many square feet do you have to place this machine in?

lg
no neat sig line

I just want it so I am not limited by a smaller machine I have 220 bolt power, main panel is 15 ft away. I have plenty of room, 80-120 gal would be no issue.

You need to look at two stage, 7.5HP compressor. Most will give you somewhere around 23-25 CFM @ 100 psi. We have a couple BelAire models that are pretty close to your budget

Check the Quincy 80gal @ Lowes (Very similar to what AndeiH linked minus the magnetic switch and 7.5HP)

-2 stage 5HP
-17cfm @90psi
-baldor 1700rpm
-Condor MDR3 contactor w/ thermal overload
-$1900 (find 10% coupon online)

I have the Quincy 5 hp, 80g, 18cfm. I am very happy with it. With a universal silencer on it, it has wired down a good bit. look into intercooler option, although this can be added afterwards.

I think that is the 5hp model, I want the 7.5 hp with 23 scfm @ 100psi

Look into Champion VR5-8, 5HP ~25cfm @90psi $2700 shipped to your door. It even have the autodrain. The pump is an old and well proven design, very efficient overall.

Those pump are my top choice over Quincy (QR 325) and Saylor (705).

I'm all about buying nice tools, but have you considered just buying another (or two) $500 60 gal compressor? Then you'd have the option to just run one if you need a smaller amount of air... I think it'd be a lot cheaper for home use. Another option would be to buy another motor/pump (maybe form a compressor with a rusted tank) and the run both pumps into a single tank with you have a large air demand.

that IR compressor for about $2000 is nice .... BUT they have a better one for another $500.

the more expensive one has an AFTERCOOLER already there and piped in. This is essential for cooling the hot air and containing the water. It also has an automatic drain valve instead of manual. its model Model: 2475N7.5-FP

here is the title: Ingersoll Rand 7.5-HP 80-Gallon Two-Stage Air Compressor (230V 1-Phase) "Fully Packaged"

i guess the "fully packaged" is the important part.
