I have a Cornwell set that is made by Vim. No issues at all. Great quality for the money. If COO is not a concern then VIM. If COO is an issue then I would go with SK. if I didn't already have the cornwell I would be looking at getting the SK.

Craftsman has a 42 piece tied and hex kit. On sale at my local Sears for 28.** vs 99.99 I have the USA and I am very pleased. A co worker has the cornwell set and it has standed up to the test of time.

SO kit is 6-800... Eeek

I also have the Cornwell set. I assumed it would be made in USA when I bought it, but it's Taiwanese. For how much I use it, I'm happy. I'm now hesitant to buy Cornwell.

Same as kobalt/gearwrench or what?

A lot of this stuff is too similar to not call it the "same". Most of the "off"-tools (specialty tools that aren't highly popular) are probably rebrands in (at least) the mac, matco, and cornwell lines. SK might do it too but I don't know.

For most torx fasteners you don't really need fantastic quality. Just get a decent set or torx keys and a couple of single piece torx sockets in larger sizes (t25, t30); that'll cover about 85% of mechanical torx right there. Once in a while stuff when it comes to cars; if you need a different size use the keys or go get a socket in that size.

My master torx set is this here: ATD-13772

I had originally purchased this and ATD's master hex bit socket set from Fox Run Tools back in August 2012.

Haven't had any issues/complaints thus far and show hardly any signs of wear & tear.

Mind you I am not a pro mechanic.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like Fox Run Tools sells that set anymore, so I've linked to the next best option, price-wise that is for the set.

Snap on if using professionally and want real USA, if occasional use and coo doesn't matter then find the cheapest, I don't suggest Mac or Matco or Cornwell because it's all relabeled some body else's you can get cheaper

I don't know to be honest. I think you can pick up the Cornwell set for $75 on ebay if you look. It's a nice set, I just felt bamboozled when they weren't made in USA. At that point in life I assumed any hard tool like that from a truck brand would be USA. The SK set looks nice as well, but it's a bigger investment.
