I just bought this set and it is excellent.

I refuse to buy normal phillips screwdrivers or any set that includes them....pretty much everything you'd use a hand screwdriver on is a JIS, not a phillips.
i have to amend my review on these....I'd avoid them. While they do seem to work OK for the sole purpose of driving screws, I was installing a garbage disposal the other day and the retainer nut has a slot that fits a round screwdriver shank just perfectly...which I've always used a screwdriver for....the same one I use to swap the dishwater drain flange. The vessel ARMOR shank broke off with very minimal effort. I grabbed a Crescent out of my 199 piece kit that I had in the truck and that worked fine.

For most normal people, flathead screwdrivers are used less for driving screws and more for other things, typically. I'd suggest a higher grade Vessel set.

I didn’t read this whole thread but this Phillips only set Epstein’s offers is excellent. The discount code gives you 20% off this price. Wait a couple weeks and celebrate Epstein’s day.

Nice screwdrivers but it seem like a set thrown together from 3 different lines of random tools they have. I wouldn’t be able to handle the mismatch, especially when it’s no savings over a proper Megadora set.

They could be but vessel does sell a mismatch set like that in foam I have. It also includes flat heads.

The silver handles are impact screwdrivers and are awesome. The #3 is the go to for brake rotor retaining screws. The #2 is the go to for old motor cycle master cylinders.

^ Those are four different types of Phillips screwdrivers in that set:
  • Green Grip - Useful knurled blade for quick and slipless driving
  • Red Grip - Forged hexagonal bolster for additional wrenching
  • Grey Grip - Blade turns 12° counterclockwise and loosen stuck screws when striking with a hammer
  • Red & Green Grip - Phillips JAWSFIT tip that firmly grips screws

Thanks for posting an update. Its always good to get real constructive feedback from users regarding strengths and weaknesses. I like Vessels crosspoint tip geometry but feel they lack in other areas.

Tekton discontinued their US driver line in favor of rebranded Wittes.
Witte makes really nice screwdrivers. Also… Tekton has a very easy warranty system. I haven’t had to warranty anything from them, but GJ members have been able to warranty their tools with no issues.

A lot of really good suggestions have already been made in this thread. I can vouch for Klein, Williams/Snap-on/CAT, Wera, and Vessel. I have them all, and like them all.

I have some Hozan JIS that, I believe, are rebranded Vessel. They have also been great. I used them this morning troubleshooting Sick light curtains.

For work (electrical), I use a mix of Wera, Hozan, Wiha, Enderes, advertising pocket screwdrivers (my favorite are Detroit area pre area code ones with exchange telephone numbers but I don’t bring those to work) and Klein.

To use for house tasks or car repair or?

I find myself using 6-in-1s around the house, vs dedicated drivers for car repair. I have some old Craftsman, approx 15yr old USA SK, newer USA Tekton, Doyle demo drivers, Klein, Vessel.

I prefer the USA SK out of what I have for car repair. Although I haven't (yet) gotten any Snap Ons. And the Doyles are nice to beat the **** out of.
Wera chiseldrivers are pretty terrific.

If I wanted Wittes, I’d buy Wittes. I liked the hard handles because they were decent quality, cheap, and made in the US. Without that line of drivers, I’ve no use for the company as a whole. I can buy rebranded German and Taiwanese tools from a hundred other vendors.

They like to capitalize on the “Made in the USA” flag waving nonsense….but ditch it as soon as it’s no longer easy.
