My kid needs a basic OBD 2 scanner for his (mine) 2005 Chevy Tahoe with 5.3 L engine. He is just starting to work on it and actually fixed the oil pressure sending unit...which is a total hassle job...and needs to clear/check codes thrown.

Got any recommendations for a 50-70 dollar scanner...

Was looking at Foxwell NT301...but it doesn’t
look like it does the ABS scan functions...

I have (1200 miles from him and the car) an INNOVA 3031c...which is great...but 130 bucks...

Thanks for any response.

If you can handle $80, and the kid has a smartphone, the OBDLink MX+ will do what you want and then some. I've pulled ABS, and other OEM, codes from an '05 GM with mine. OBDLink do also have cheaper units but those don't come with the enhanced codes and only work with android IIRC.

Just a basic code reader is prety cheap. Even one thst will do body or transfer case codes was only about $200 a few years ago. Launch tech brand is what i have been useing.

O i should note that the one i have did SRS codes on GM also. Between the transfer case possition sensor and the front air bag sensor on our 05 tahoe this thing has paid for its self 2x.

Being able to read manufacure codes may really help you in the years to come.
