Recommend Trimmer and Edger Combo for light duty

Hi,

I am looking Trimmer and Edger combo for light duty use. (Just for finish touch)

Tired of using ninja star with stick edger.

I don't mind cord powered or Battery (since I use it for short time / 10-15min)

Any recommend brand/model?

For string trimmers/edgers I like Echo. I have used and abused mine and it has not failed yet (its almost 10 years old). That being said I don't think you could go wrong with a Stihl or Husqvarna. Try them all and go with the one that ergonomically fits you better.

I used to borrow my dad's electric edger. He went through a few of them before breaking down and buying a gas one. The electric ones would last a few years, but eventually die. The gas one has lasted 10 plus years now and is so much easier to use. Maybe an electric one would be fine if you did it every time you mowed or every few times. But I only do my place a few times a summer (when it is easy to borrow his) and the electric ones never had the power.

I'm happy with my Troy-Bilt. <$300 from Lowe's and they stock parts for it all year long. The edger attachment works great, as does the tiller attachment they sell.

While i disagree with your method of edging (a proper edger will leave a much cleaner edge, and not put rocks and such in your face)

I 100% agree with your assessement about Stihl.

I have the FS90R Trimmer, BG86 Blower and the SG20 sprayer. All work awesome.

I've had the same commercial model string trimmer for 20 years. Its a TMC (kawasaki motor), I guess they're only made in So Cal...but anyway,Mine still runs good...I cut ten yards a week for 5 years with it...and untold amounts of weedwacking. Never got hot, never fouled plugs. Stihl is what I'd buy if I needed to. And I'd probably spend the extra dough for a commercial model.

This is what I purchased a year ago. The string trimmer and the pole saw. I'm amazed at how the pole saw (with extension) cuts. They make a blower and edger for it too.
It was expensive but I trim around Patio, deck, barn,,, dozens of trees in my yard so I wanted something that would last.

I got sick of dealing with 2-cycle gas and got a Craftsman 4-cycle straight shaft trimmer. It's heavier but I never carry it for more than maybe half an hour at a time so weight is a non issue for me. Like with the Stihl Kombi system, it uses the swappable attachments and they are fantastic. I have the blower and stick edger and they both work great, the stick edger is especially great, it simply blows away any electric edger around.

Lowes carries the attachments I think under the MTD name.

I think most of the equipment mentioned above is overkill for your stated needs. I've been using the 18v Black & Decker and love it. About $65. Lightweight. No maintenance. The head rotates to use it as an edger. It comes with two batteries so you can always have a fresh one ready to go. My son and my best friend both bought one after using mine. We also ended up getting the leaf blower that uses the same battery. It's great for light cleanup like blowing off the driveway and walks after mowing...

These wouldn't be my choice for heavy duty use, and especially not for a large lot with lots of trimming and edging to do - but for my small lot they're perfect.
