I am learning him to do wood turning on a lathe. I need to get a bench grinder to sharpen some of the tools. I don't know how I have gone this long with out one. I have been unable to find one on craigslist. It would be nice to find an old Baldor that is almost free but I know that's not going to happen lol. I am looking at the Jet 6" and 8". What are you guys using out there? And would I see a big difference in one over the other ? I have to upgrade my lathe in the near future so I can't go to overboard on this. Thanks for you for the advice, and Happy New Year to everyone, Ed.

Do not buy the Ryobi 8 inch cheapo from Home Depot. I bought one and it is total junk. Takes foreve to spool up. Doesn't have much power when it finally does. Recently it quit altogether when it got a little hot - had to wait overnight for it to cool and run again.

I have a caftsman and a HF craftsman is decent. Do not like the HF going to replace it with a Dewalt I have been looking i like the dewalt one the best so far.

If he's still got it you could probably work that price down some.
