Recommendation for folding loading ramps?

My 90 year old Dad wants a set of folding loading ramps so he can load his generator or snow blower into his Subaru Forrester when he needs to move them. He really hates to ask me for help - though he knows I'd help without a second thought.

I have an 8 foot long pair of ATV ramps (non-folding) that are hard to carry in his car due to the length. He likes them and asked about them. I said - ahah ! Christmas Gift!

At work they have a pair that are aluminum planks with raised dimple holes for traction that would work. They have no mfg info on them and they allegedly came from a Garage Sale?

Sears has them for $215 On Sale (Craftsman Loading Ramps SearsItem# 07124659000 | Model# 24659 ) but we are looking at 3+ weeks to get them to the store.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I bought a set of these earlier this year. http://www.allramps.com/Motorcycle-Ramps/PFA91S.htm to replace a set I lost like an idiot.

Less expensive, fold into a shorter length and weigh ~70% less than the ramps you're considering from Sears. They also have a nylon web strap with a hook and adjusting buckle to tie them to the vehicle to prevent them from sliding away from the vehicle.

I use them to load motorcycles into my 4x4 F250. They are plenty strong and work well.

What ever you buy make sure to get safety straps that will hold the ramps firmly to the vehicle.

You might want to look for some type of pulley that he can attach inside the vehicle (loop of rope around the seats ?) so he can stand in back to the side and pull the load up. That way if it slips, he won't be crushed !!

Ray - thanks for the link.

I just ordered a pair of those with Free Shipping!

Check one more thing off the X-Mas Shopping List! :rocker:

Old Wizard 1 - the safety straps and some sort of pulley system are both good ideas. Dad's 80 (not 90 like I stated originally) and pretty spry but safety first! The last thing I need is him getting hurt in a stupid accident.

Thanks everyone for your help.
