Recommendations for 52" Indoor Ceiling Fan

Hello Folks,

My wife and I are ready to purchase and install ceiling fans for our new (to us) house.
It's been quite a while since we were fan shopping, and there are literally hundreds of style and models to choose from.

Here is what we want: Three 52" fans, one for the living room (without a light fixture) and two others for the bedrooms (with light fixture), all in black or black/dark wood finish combinations. Living room is 20' x 17.5' and the bedrooms are 18' x 18'

All three of the rooms already have separate switches & wiring for separate fan & light operation (living room has can lights).

We want sleek modern style this time around; no more old timey fan cages with (ugh!) tulip light shades.

I would like to find fans with replaceable LED lighting but almost all of the ones I have seen so far have integrated LED lights. Should I be concerned with that?

Prices seem to be all over the map. The ones at HD & Lowes are reasonable (under $200) and frankly I have bought at least a dozen fans from both stores and never had a single problem with any of them. Any reason to look elsewhere? The fans at the specialty stores don't seem much different but some are priced in the stratosphere.

Questions - Three or Five Blades - does it matter?
Can I expect the integrated LED fan lights to last at least ten years under normal use?

Recommendations for Manufacturers?

I'm hoping that your responses will help to narrow the search criteria; thanks in advance!

We've settled on 52" size based on the size of our rooms.
My wife found and purchased a fan for our living room (on build.com) while I was typing my post.

One down, two to go. So now we just need bedroom fans with lights.
Still concerned with the integrated lighting issue.

LED lighting on many fans means they supply screw in LED bulbs. Easily replaced.

Whenever someone asks me what kind of fan to buy, my suggestion is always Hunter. Find one you like and buy it. They have several that come with 2700 or 3000k screw in lamps.

Word of warning about LED lights on fans... make sure they use bulbs that can be replaced and not just LED boards that aren't available except thru the manufacturer!!!

I bought a nice Hunter recently at Build.com. The ones in the local big box were…. Less.

Yep. Some are nicer than others. I have two really nice Hunter fans from a box store that I paid about $200 each for. They were sitting on a shelf next to $50 fans.

I’m general once you go below the $175 price point the quality drops fast.

Not really. I've installed several hundred fans and about half of them were Hunter. I doubt very many of them were over $100. They all perform equally well, but some are definitely more eye appealing than others.

Thanks for that. We've installed four or five Hunter fans over thirty years or so and had zero problems with them.

I'm with just about everyone on the Hunter bandwagon. They are quiet and well balanced. Have 2 in my house on downrods, the 60" one in the living room is 18 or 24 inches long and only really shakes on high. That's the only one I've ever had shake and I've never balanced any that I've installed.
One day I will get back up there and try, well maybe...

Big *** Fans sells a residential brand called Haiku. Best fan Ive ever seen. We installed one on about a 18' or so ceiling. Been flawless running for over 5 yrs now, 24/7 in "auto" mode. It has a bunch of functions not typically found on fans, like auto, gust, on/off timer, motion detect (for the LED lighting) . Highly recommend.

UPDATE:

After much consideration, we chose Hunter for our 'conventional' fans and purchased four of the 51314 Aerodyne model (we decided to do all four bedrooms at once) in black. They are Smart-capable and the light fixture uses conventional Edison socket LED bulbs that can be replaced or upgraded.
