Recommendations for a Bench Brush

I'm in the market for a decent brush to clean off the top of my work benches. All of my bench tops are plywood, except for one that is steel. Right now, believe it or not, I'm using an old paint brush. I need a brush about 6-8 inches long that will last. Ya'll have any perfered mfg that offers quality in their products and stands behind it with a lifetime warranty.? I do perfer a wooden handle over the plastic stuff and that it be made in the USA. For wood shavings I perfer a horsehair, any ideas for metal shavings.? The plan is to have a brush at each work bench.

I was cheap on my bench brush. i just use an old wallpaper brush I got in a misc box of stuff at an auction, didn't buy the box for the brush it just came along for the ride. It works rather well though.

no markings at all, and no clue where it came from.
i found it behind a workbench in my basement after i bought the house.

wonder if someplace like grainger would have anything

Harper No. 453. Available at Home Depot for about 12 bucks. Wood handle, horse hair, leather hanger string, and made in USA. You can't go wrong!!! Just like the one in the post above mine.

Again, this is one of the few items I like from Harbor Freight. They have them cheap on sale, like $2.

I also really had a hard time finding one anywhere else.

I bought a brush as "surplus" at Princess Auto for $5 H.B. Smith CB10 horse hair brush with wooden handle.

They had a ton of them. Very nice little brush

My HF special is doing well so far. Not lost bristles yet.....


Now for a good metal pan to match would be nice!!!

After each show season, I retire my California Car Duster to toolbox and workbench duties. They work great if you have smooth surfaces.

I would not recommend the one from Harbor Freight. Too large and heavy, and the handle is not shaped very comfortable. It also sheds fibers from its bristles.

My brush is one from the Dollar General. Plastic handle and flagged plastic bristles. Works like **** in the house (according to the wife). Does excellent in the garage.

Mine is a Harper also, although I was thinking it was a 454. I'd have to look at it to be sure. I paid like 5 bucks for it, I have a friend that was working at a distributor at the time.

I have a couple of HF brushes. They've been okay, but don't get the synthetic bristles near anything hot! (Don't ask...)
