Hi guys, seeking thoughts from others that have walked down this path. I am planning the 240V single phase wiring for my garage. My question is around the air compressor wiring.
What is best?
(1) Install a receptacle on the wall and plug on the compressor lead and attach to receptacle? or
(2) Install a disconnect on the wall and plumb the compressor lead in the disconnect box?
Of course this the air compressor line will be protected by a 50 amp breaker in the main panel.
I guess I can go either way, but wanted to see what other have to say or recommend. The disconnect box will protrude while and receptacle will be flush with the wall.
My line length will be about 70 feet total line length from the panel and I plan on running 6/2 wire. I have confirmed with the air compressor company the CB size required which is 50A and they also confirm the 6/2 wire.
So, what do you all think is the best path?
