Recommendations for Canadian online retailers?

Forgive me if it's a common question, but I didn't find a whole lot during my search.

I'm doing a bit of shopping and I'm starting to realize why the only tools I see up here are CT or off the truck!

Any leads on Canadian online retailers or at the least US shops that share a little sympathy for us poor northern wrenches?

Among other tools I'm looking to pick up/replace/upgrade in the near future, I was pricing out the GP Duo 1/4" sockets and the only sets I can find are over $260 CAD or ship from the states. Compare that to pricing from toolbarn at $187 CAD for the set and it's enough to drive you nuts. I have nothing against shipping over the border but I'm still having nightmares about 20% duty charges and 100% "brokerage" fees from the last time I shipped over the border. :willy_nil

Another example, a 15pce Proto wrench set that I'm looking at comes in around 250-300 down south of the freedom line and I've seen it listed up here at between 650-800. Eye twitch growing uncontrollable.

Never mind that all of the industrial supply shops in town are only open monday to friday 8-5. It's time for another beer. Maybe Gregg's will start opening on saturdays again just for me!

Sorry, turned into a bit of a rant. Cheers either way.

black rock tools
jccayer.com
mississauga hardware

But unfortunately either way we get screwed over. If you do import something use USPS and Canada much better then UPS.

That guy with the clapped out bridgeport seems to like McMasterCarr. Personally I've had good luck with Amazon.ca.

I'm also on the left coast so I have access to KMS Tools, a great chain of stores available to the consumer aimed at the professional.

edit: The Gray Tools online store is also great for industrial grade tooling.

Staples (believe it or not)
Amazon
Gray tools has a online store
Ebay

THEN depending where you are located you can usually get American online stuff to the border (usually free shipping) and pick it up from there.

Yeah, it ***** for us. I'm an amazon prime addict, so pretty much anything that doesn't come off Kijiji, or from Home Depot, is off Amazon

As MikeF2316 said be careful with Jccayer, Ive had issues with poor communication from them and something that was in stock on the website took 3 months to arrive. Not sure where your located but atlas machinery in Toronto is pretty good for power tools and woodworking tools and supplies.

I typically shop at Cambodian tire, princess auto and KMS in that order due to distance from house. Online I like Amazon but will only order things that are shipped and sold by Amazon.ca. Got burned on the American side before

Appreciated the responses guys. I figured this had been gone over a few times before but you never know what you'll turn over if you ask. Actually I see a big thread with the same question as mine just got bumped up!

I do miss KMS and Lordco. Rediculous prices...up until you show your face enough times and bring beer once or twice. :D Former BC boy but I'm up in Grande Prairie now.

There are plenty of Indy supply places up here (Greggs, ACKlands, Traction, Fastenal etc) that do G2S, Proto etc but they have garbage hours, no prices in the catalogue, and no service unless you've got a big *** account. I'm actually starting at one of those huge giant multinational shops in a few weeks, might be able to wrangle some deals from them once I have a big name on my covvies and can make it down on a weekday.

I get spoiled living in the lower mainland. Lots of tool stores close by.

The best prices for Proto i found were KMS and Raider-Hansen

You might want to look into Gray, they have flyer specials and online deals. Not automotive but I assume you work on HD stuff

i mainly shop amazon.COM, oddly you still win on price when you consider shipping compared to the canadian site the only caveat is you have to have a large enough order to save on shipping. otherwise i use KMS tools, summit tools, princess auto and canadian tire
