I am installing light in my newly finished 30'x40' shop. I haven't decided on lights but will but likely go with 4' or 8' foot strip lights (not sure whether to go with T8 or T5). The building is metal with truss' on 10 foot centers. Bottom of truss' are 10 feet high.

Should I mount the lights above and between the truss' or mount them below the bottom of the truss' at 10'?

Are you going to do work that will swing something up to 10' height? Long boards for wood working? Car lift? If not, keep it simple and put them on the bottom of the trusses.

Thanks sands35......I will be doing some wood working but nothing that won't be manageable. My first thought was to mount them on the the bottom of the trusses for simplicity. But am now wondering if I shouldn't mount them between the trusses with Jack chain that will allow me to raise/lower them should I ever need to years down the road.

I'm sure somebody makes some metal truss clamps that will make the lighting a bolt up affair. If you want flexibility later, run the electrical in conduit to junction boxes on a 10 foot grid hung from the purlins. Then flex conduit to the fixtures. Just need to unbolt and move stuff later if you want.
