Good morning folks. My garage floor has seen better days. It's not beat up or anything it's just got stains and discoloration in a few places and I'd like to either paint or epoxy it since it's never been done since the house was built. Would you recommend paint or epoxy?

First maybe I should describe my climate. I'm in Newfoundland which is a small island on the east coast of Canada. We get cold winters where they use salt on the roads (we park our car in the garage in the winter), and our summers can get a bit humid with temps averaging around 20 Celsius but the good weather doesn't usually last. Our spring and Fall are fairly wet and cold.

Depending on what you recommend (paint or epoxy) can you also specify a product? Thanks.

Hi
If you do a lot of reading about this topic (and there is a lot), the use of a 3 layer system of primer, 100% solids epoxy and protective topcoat would be an excellent choice. This system is like our www.armorcladepoxy.com, or others mentioned on the GJ.

'Paints' are just too thin and most likely would not give any decent service life, and would then just have to be removed later on to put on a proper coating system, especially needed where you reside.

Another solution is tiles, also mentioned quite a bit on the Journal. Many different types and price points. We offer a solid tile (not hollow like many other garage tiles so they are quiet to walk on), see www.supratile.com. Our tiles carry a 25 year warranty.

Thanks!
