Second on the mac clamp pliers, I got those on sale last month and I keep the smaller of the two in my rollcart at all time. Bets the hell out of using a pair of slip joint pliers.

When ever theirs room to use these,

i find they work the best. They seem to really lock down on the clamps and open them all the way really easily.

Plus there only 20 bucks and USA made.

I got my Blue Points for about twenty bucks off the truck. The kind with the two different bits, one a bowl-shaped bit and the other a fork type.

So much easier than using slip joint pliers.

Those MAC vise grips do look interesting. That said for a DIYer who presumably doesn't want to spend money on a bunch of different pliers I'd recommend cable operated. Not the best for everything but will cover pretty much everything.

Those Channellock slip joint pliers with the notches are designed for the older spring wire hose clamps.

For flat band, constant tension hose clamps, I have KD brand pliers that I use if there is plenty of room. For tight spots, I have the Craftsman cable operated ones. No problems with either.

Everyone needs one of these style hose clamp pliers. Newer cars have hose clamps in places literally impossible to reach without one like this. There are probably 20+ brands that make ones very similar.

Amen brother. I bought one last week to replace the heater hoses on my wife's 2000 Grand Marquis. One clamp was in such a position that only the Craftsman tool could get to it. Saved hours of headache.

I was just about to post those.

If you're wrestling hose clamps on and off all the time and you don't have a pair of these you're robbing yourself of a much easier life. These pliers can turn a 5-10 minute hose clamp argument into a 10 second procedure.
