I have the m12 PVC cutter and it works great for PVC and works on pex but it's a little big. For pex I have a rothenberger cutter that works good.

I have a husky ratcheting cutter for pvc, works great for 1.5 and smaller. Bigger stuff, I use a Sawzall. It works fine for pex and soft tubing, but is slow.

From experience in the trades, I learned to avoid cheap pvc/cpvc cutters.

I have a cheap ratcheting PVC cutter. No idea the brand as I bought it 20+ years ago; so maybe HF. It will cut PVC, but it's absolutely terrible at it. So yeah, buy a name brand like Ridgid. Or maybe a well-reviewed clone of a Ridgid, or similar, if you can't justify the real deal.

This. I thought that they were an expensive gimmic…NOPE. I have used mine a lot over the last 6 or so years. Laid about 2 miles of joint trench and that thing was awesome. Expensive but worth every penny.

Avoid those unknown brand tools, they will not be worth fooling with; name brand tools have earned their good reputation.

For the smaller stuff, up to 1" I buy the cheap store brands. Right now it's a Masterforce from Menards, and will probably be replaced with the same the next time I lose it or drop in in a ditch and don't want to get it. I have a pretty nice Lenox that goes up to 1-1/4, anything larger than that gets bandsawed.

I forgot that I have a Klein PVC cutter for up to 2". The one time I used it 25 years ago the blade bent on the first and only attempt at cutting a 2". The last I saw it, it was sitting in a drawer of my brother's toolbox with the same bent blade.
