Hello, looking for ideas for a smaller bench vise to bolt to small 20x24 folding weld table. Basically carry/roll into building do the job pack up and go. Maybe someone can recommend specific older models to be on the lookout for. Would like to keep it under 30 lbs

Yes bench type vise. I do commercial refrigeration in restaurants. Once or twice a month I get asked to weld something. Usually broken stainless fixtures sinks, shelves etc. So need a set up that is small and portable has to fit in service van with everything else.

If it's for light work maybe a portable table clamp on vise like the one Yost makes?

This is my welding bench vise. it's actually on an old Craftsman roller toolbox, and the box has a 1/2" steel plate on top as the welding table, but I actually use the vise more than the table. Magnet ground to the table top, that top has a ground wire over to one of the vise mounting bolts, and there is a secondary grounding wire off the same mounting bolt with a clamp for loose parts to be welded.

The vise is an old Lakeside and while only 3" wide jaws, opens over 4-1/2". Light homeowners vises like this typically weigh from 10-15 lbs, and are more than adequate for light welding. It's both ground clamp and welding vise, and works well.

Here is it with a UMD (Universal Measuring Device) for scale:

May not ideal for your situation but here's an idea- i have a family member that had the same issue and he took one and welded it to a trailer hitch setup (don't know the technical name but it's maybe inch and a half square and slides in and out of your hitch assembly). Only gripes he's had about it are that it adds noticeable weight if you use a bigger one and is a pain should you actually need a hitch - other than that its one of the most practical solutions I've seen for someone needing a vise on the go

That trail vise is cool, but that little lakeside is what i was thinking. Maybe a bit bigger
