Looking for a mechanics underhood light bar that can be used in and out of multiple cars. One that expands to fit all hoods. Would prefer around $100 and less. Thanks

I have been meaning to buy the Astro Pneumatic 150SL. Love the 65SL so assuming the good light will be similarly high quality. $125 on Amazon. Not sure if can be had cheaper elsewhere.

Corded or cordless?
If cordless, Detachable or internal battery?
Pro use or hobby use?

Neiko cordless underhood light.

I love my Milwaukee M12 Hood light. Might not fit *every* hood, but it handled my eldest spawn's X5 fine. If I could plug a cord into it, it would be cool, but still a massive plus when I'm awkwardly wrenching. Light is an amazing benefit.

Semi pro/pro DIY. I wrench on a the weekends. No Milwaukee stuff yet, not until the dewalts give up life.
Like I said around $100 or less not going to buy a $250 light just for the spawn to drop it.
Reason I ask is Iv never had one, use on at work all the time when I play pro mechanic. Home garage is the vehicle maintenance and currently restoring a ford and working on a Jeep Cherokee interior. Thanks all

If you can go cordless, Get the Neiko.. the light itself is pretty great. Hard to beat for the $$. The only downside really is the charger, which is just like any other cheap Chinese cell phone type chargers. I had the older version, i have the never version. The only reason i bother mentioning the charger is cause it also works while plugged in, so you’re not just limited by the battery. At the price there are strictly corded options too on amazon.

If you use it enough - dont bother with the HF model. The mounting system ***** and the battery capicity is like half the Neiko’s i think.

I’d also suggest spending another $30 and getting the newer model of the handheld light Nekio makes.. their lights are pretty great IMO.

I have the ATD one...forget which model. It's been solid.

That said, pro tip: if you're working under the hood for more than an hour or two, take it off. On a lot of vehicles it's only 4 bolts, a couple of which have slots to make it easy to slide in/out without having to support the full weight until you're ready to move it. Not only does it let more light in, but no prop rods or hood itself to get in the way.
