Looking to put down the pex this weekend and trying to figure out where to put the damn manifold to protect it as much as possible as well as allow easy elec access for wiring. Is there any code that states the heating mechanicals need to be ** feet from the sub panel?

Another thought of mine was to stash the manifold some what underneath the stairs the "L' up to the second floor, but this area could also be used for good storage.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Where's the boiler or heat source going to be?. Once the manifold is hooked up I doubt you need it very accessible?? so under the stairs might be ok even if you use it for storage.

thanks for the reply

The boiler will be a wall mount electric unit so it wil not be too far at all from the manifold. My last thought is to put it underneath the stairs and then just box it all in to keep it safe. The purge tank and the other mechanicals should be able to find around/above the manifold, thats my hope anyway.

My manifolds are going inside interior walls where both they and the exposed pex coming out of the slab will be out of harms way.
I will have an access door to get at them when needed.

Even after getting started late I was able to get all the pex down, but not make the connections to the manifold to pressurize it. That will be today's task. I decided to put the manifold under the stairs and it seemed to work out ok, just wish the walls were up so that I didn't need to make a temp mounting board hanging on the stem walls.

I've got some pics of it all and the routing I used keeps a 4 x15 area clear for my lift placement.
