Recommendations on a RivNut nut setting tool, please.

I need to sink probably a couple dozen RivNuts into my 'T' roadster frame for various mounting points. Most of 'em will be 1/4". What's the best quality tool for the least amount of money (under $100) out there?

I have the second one and it works well. I've used it around two dozen times and always works as designed.

Are you setting aluminum, steel, or stainless steel rivnuts?
At 1/4", stainless is out of the question with that tool, and steel is pushing your luck.

I first got a cheap at HF because I thought use would be limited to 1-2 small projects. Upgraded to a Marson and it’s worth the $100 or so

Building cars you will find plenty of uses for it

I can't say I own much Astro stuff, but I'll second this recommendation anyway.

Oh, and the bolt-cutter style you see in that video is what you'll need for 1/4" steel inserts too. Unless you use a power drill mounted one (which Astro also makes).

Only used it a couple of times, and it’s ok.

I also have one of the little ones, but with red handles. I suspect they all come out of the same factory, though.

I broke the mandrel on that one, and can’t seem to remember to search for a replacement mandrel.

If, in fact, my small one is the same, I wouldn’t recommend it. The mandrel was very brittle, and failed without putting much squeeze on the handle.

You can easily build your own also. Youtube has how to videos. Rather simple and they work. Good for tight spots. What I have used.

After I tried the Astro Pneumatic tool I wanted to throw away my Marson threadsetter. I really like how the Astro works.

I believe Astro can supply replacement parts. They also carry additonal sizes that are not in the kit, according to the paperwork that came with mine.

Keep in mind some have a saddle that sets the rivnut flush, others it is slightly raised.

No. Recommendation is purely on price.

Haven't tried the Astro either.
