Newb here with a few questions.

Partner and I are planning to open a machine shop just outside of Indy. We need a shop, about 40x60.

Any recommendations on manufacturers/builders? We are not looking to break the bank as it is a new business. Just having a hard time finding an existing building and want to get some estimates.

Any ideas on the rough price range of something like this?

Thanks

It sounds as if you are looking at a metal building. If so, find some you like the looks of, and attempt to find out who did the slab, erection, and who the mfg was. Best building ever is a piece of junk if erected poorly or on a bad slab.

Shipping nowdays can be a make or break thing, so you probably will need to buy from a mfg who is in the area.

Morton may be higher priced than most. They build the nicest steel buildings around and will do a turn key installation. And if you’re starting a new business, the last thing you need to deal with is the nitty gritty of building a building. Put your efforts where they give you the best return. Setting up business, lining up customers, purchasing equipment, and etc.

depending on winter snow accumulation, get ice gaurds[?]. ..... they will stop ice from falling on you or vehicles from the eaves.........also get good sized eavestroughs too...........little things that made sense after the fact............if going ground source heating , consider dehmidifiers if vehcles or wet floors will be an issue..........good luck...............
