I know this is probably a dumb question but is there a white interior paint that people generally use for the garage interior?

I'm covering up a yellow paint (gross)

I would like to have my garage look like an operating room. Generally I use Sherwin Williams paint but thought I would poll the forum to see if there is some type of "you gotta have this paint".

we've used Valspar lately repainting the rooms in our house and I have to say that I am very well pleased with it. It's good and thick and coverage is great. No need to put multiple coats on.
If you are covering up yellow, and it is either glossy or a very bright yellow, then I would pick up a couple of gallons of primer and gp over it first. Usually when I prime, I get Olympia I believe, from WallyWorld. It cheaper but gets the job done. Valspar I get at Lowes.

Weatherbeater is terrible. Sherwin Williams is decent. I've never tried Valspar or Behr.

(My garage has two yellow walls. But it doesn't look like an operating room at all.)

I second the use of a primer.

I would just buy something that is off the shelf from a major brand that has a location near you. That way you will never have troubles trying to match it again. Most places will have this in stock for people like apartment owners.

For mine, I have been thinking about going with a semi-gloss so that it can be cleaned more easily.

Don't buy cheap paint! For all the labour you'll do, buy a quality paint that will last much longer.

In my previous house I used a Canadian brand, Cloverdale Paint. Excellent quality without the Benjamin Moore prices. BM does have the best color selection mind you. I did stain blocking primer over all surfaces, ceiling paint on the ceiling (!), and 2 coats of semi-gloss white on the walls. 8.5 gals total for a 22x24x8 ft garage. I looked like new after 5 years when we sold the house.

My new garage will also have the same brand, semi-gloss to walls, but this time I'll use a kitchen & bath paint as it has some anti fungal additives for moist environments. I plan to be able to wash my vehicles in there once I'm done.

I used Velspar and Behr in my shop, both white and I couldn't tell the difference. Needed 2 coats after priming white with oil based killz over osb. I have Behr in my house that has stood up well

Consumer Reports.com has lots of paint tests / reviews

I've had good results with Kilzs II for primer (rated #1 by consumers reports) and Behr from HD....

Have you considered using exteriour paint in the garage? It's a bit tougher....it's what I used and everything came out great....

If the surface you are covering is in good condition with no stains or water damage, I would be inclined to just wash it with a good TSP or stong detergent and paint it with a good brand BM, SW etc. paint. I have not been impressed with Behr paints at all. If you think you're going to have stain and or adhesion problems use Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 first.
That stuff will stick to air!

I just checked the Consumer Reports website. Their test results are separated as low luster, flat and semi-gloss. The top rated for each are.....

low luster - Behr Premium Plus Ultra Satin Enamel (Home Depot)
flat/matte - Behr Premium Plus Ultra Flat (Home Depot)
semi-gloss - Behr Premium Plus Ultra Semigloss Enamel (Home Depot)

I started with a base of Kilz on my OSB walls. One coat. Then I decided to try the Walmart brand paint. ColorPlace I think is the name. It is made by Valspar and I think it worked great. I did use semi gloss exterior.

It covered well in one coat. I use white for the top and light gray for the bottom. Looks great and it was very reasonably priced.
