Recommendations on socket rails

I have the old metal type socket rails that I've had for 30 + years. The sockets fall off and clips also.What are your recommendations on some nice ones.thanks. Jim

Mechanic time saver or mtslast lock a socket trays are very pretty, but tough. 16 g steel red powdercoat. They come in a 5 row 3 row or singles and are the gold standard in trays!

Is your tool box in the same area as your work bay? If so, just get the plastic organizer type with the pegs to keep your sockets from rolling in the drawers.

If you have to walk all the way over to your work area, the metal clip type is best so you can carry the whole socket set. I use the harbor freight 69 cent version (79 cents?).

I don't normally like these rails, I can live without them, but the rails supplied with some Nepros sockets I bought are the best I have ever seen! They have plastic lugs that the sockets clip on to, which don't damage the sockets, and hold them firmly.

The rails allow the holders to slide freely, and they are fixed down with solid metal brackets!

You can buy the rails without the sockets, either from Nepros or KTC! Look up Nepros tools online to find them!

The one Epstein sells are the best! Can fill a rail with 1/2 drive sockets and turn it over and none will fall out.

Harbor freight one **** because they won't stand up. I have some really old Snap-on ones that came with some old used tools that I bought and they stand up. Different design I the spine. I have a bunch of the craftsman lock a socket types which I really like. I have a snap-on one that is metal instead of plastic, but works the same. You can buy extra twist locks from snap-on, in packs, I didn't buy though because it was too many like 20 or something. If you are going to get the through socket type I would check some posts on the west long socket trays. I think the westlings are better for not much more money. I plan on get westlings myself, I am still figuring which ones I want to get, because I want the labeled versions.

For rails, I'm really liking the Carlyle stuff.

They sell 3 different length rails (8", 12" and 15") in Red ("SAE"), Blue ("Metric") and Green ("Other").

The rails are pretty cheap, the 25-packs of clips are pretty cheap. I'm sure they're identical to other rails out there.

I've been pretty happy with them.

Mechanics Time Saver lock a socket rails are what I use. They can be pricey but they are perfect for my setup.

I like the gearwrench/kd socket rails. They are plastic rails but light years better than craftsman and hf in my opinion.

Craftsman twist-lock socket rack. Same as MTS lock-a-socket, but available at your local Sears store at a lower price. Sears part # 42330 (1/4"), 42331 (3/8"), 42332 (1/2").

These are the best I've seen.

The rails are red anodized aluminum with a powerful magnet on the back. They are also sold as Craftsman, for less. Amazing,Sears is rarely cheaper on anything. There is a cheaper version with plastic rails but the same locking posts but no magnet
