Hey guys, I've recently built my shop, and working on it as time and money (the money part is the *****) allow. I've been following the "best light" thread, and pulled the trigger on the Diva fixtures not long ago. Still waiting on a bulb deal to come along...

Anyway... I want to put a wall pack over my 2 overhead garage doors. I have a 12ft wide door facing down the drive, and a 8ft overhead door on the side of the building facing the back yard. I live out in the country, and it's very dark. These will function as security lights. I demo'd a convenience store not long ago, and cabbaged on to an ATG Electronics 8000 lumin 90 watt, 5000K LED wall pack from the store (I've tracked it that far due to the sticker still being on the light). I think this will be a bright light, and I will face it down the drive. I also got a high pressure sodium wallpack, but it doesn't have any information on it... I'll probably stick to LED, as that is what everything else will be.

All that being said, does anyone have a recommendation for the 2nd wall pack facing the back yard? I THINK I wouldn't want one as bright as the drive facing light (it's slightly angled toward the back of the house/living room/kitchen). I'm wanting to utilize a dusk/dawn timer on them as well. I've scoured the web looking for a photo/video of how bright the 8K lumen light will be, with no luck.

Bottom line, I got the thing for free and would like to utilize it, but if it's going to be too damn bright, I need to find a couple lights that will fit the bill. I've come to the conclusion that I'm clueless on the whole LED world!

Any suggestions?

Superbrightleds has a good selection of commercial led wall packs. Also RAB makes great light but they are expensive. The light you have is going to be BRIGHT. That thing is going to light up your whole property.

Just put up a RAB wall pack, I love it. Works great. Model I put up was WP3LED55. Can get on amazon for couple hundred dollars.

I just installed one of these. It's a heavy SOB for no bigger than it is.

If you go to the RAB website, you can page back to the main overview page for their wallpacks. The WPLED26 is good, but it puts out a lot of light - they have other smaller ones that may be more suitable. I use a lot of their SLIM12 wallpacks on industrial projects with good results.

I'll second that the WPLED26 puts out a boat load of light. They work best if mounted up high. I went 14' and they worked well. You would probably be happier going with a fixture that has better cutoff. Basically it doesn't throw the light as far, but directs more of the light downward. I prefer the lower color temp leds as they are not as harsh on the eyes.
