I am going to be putting in the floor for the storage section of my attic trusses. This will be strictly for storage as it’s only about 3.5’ high, 6.5’ wide and runs the full 26’ length of the garage. Truss spacing is 24”. Storage will likely include seasonal items in Rubbermaid bins and other odds and ends, nothing extremely heavy. I believe the lower chord live load is 30lbs/sqft. I tried a piece of 1/2” ply up there and it felt a little bit springy between the trusses. Should I just go up to a 5/8” ply or is there something better for the job that I’m overlooking?

24" centers are going to be a bit springy. 2x stringers between the trusses and then 1/2" plywood wood be an affordable option.

That was my initial plan but I think I’d like to avoid adding stringers in order to simplify the installation of the insulation under the storage area floor

My attic is 24OC and I have 1/2 ply. Yes, it isn't rock solid, but it doesn't need to be to support typical light weight stuff that goes in an attic. If it is too heavy for that, I can't carry it up there anyway.

Keep it simple, IMO.

Thanks for the input guys, I ended up going with 5/8” tongue and groove select grade so it’s a little smoother to crawl on.
