I'm planning on a shed, which will open up space in my garage. My father passed a few years ago and his garage threw up in mine. Then we brought teh kayaks in there, so my side got slammed. I don't have a tiny fraction of his stuff, but there just hasn't been time to sort it out. The wife parks on her side, but my side has a workbench, craftsman box, with MATCO top and a wall cabinet. I also have a Kennedy top box. I have two kitchen cabinets on the floor, with a Formica workbench on top of them. I'll keep the Kennedy, but am thinking of replacing the other tool boxes and the workbench. I might keep the metal wall cabinet and just paint it. I have concrete walls, so I either used tapcons, or my Hilti to hang that. Can't recall which.
On my side, I have a an L shaped wall, so 44" between the basement entry door and the back wall. And the back wall runs just over 18', to leave enough room for the garage door to close, etc.
As a casual user and DIY'r, so no heavy automotive anymore. Just window requlators, things like that. Any general home repair, light bathroom remodel. I have another area for my hobby desk, with Dremels, Dremel drill press, small vise and grinder. I want the garage area for my larger grinder and to be able to work on larger projects. Just looking to organize my shop, get a good bang for my buck. I'm thinking new, not used. Snapon is great, but probably overkill. I'd like smooth operating drawers. I did see a fairly large Snapon box locally for $1,800, which I think included the tools. I jumped on it, but I think he either made a mistake or panicked that so many folks wrote him. Still, new could be less hassle. I buy used almost always, but sometimes new is easier.
I know you guys love to spend other people's money, so how about some ideas? Kobalt, Husky, Gladiator??? I'm seeing some decent deals at Lowes right now and am tempted.
