I just received a reconditioned Ryobi 18v Li-ion P-103 battery I picked up via ebay and charged it up. I noticed the “RECON” marking after I had charged it. It took the charge and powers a tool, now I guess I’ll see how long it lasts.

I’m wondering what in general y’all’s experiences have been with reconditioned batteries. Also, specifically with reconditioned Ryobi 18v batteries.

Thank you

Reconditioned or rebuilt? The latter should have all new cells. Reconditioned, dunno. It could just mean they wiped a rag over a customer return.

I don't think I would mess around with reconditioned Ryobi batteries because the new good ones are actually pretty inexpensive. I bought the 4ah 2-pack for $89 over two years ago. They are routinely available for this cost. Powerful and long-lasting. Besides, who is doing the reconditioning and are they using quality cells? The last Ryobi battery I took apart used Samsung cells (good), had decent capacity and very good current delivery capability.

It is marked, actually branded like cattle, “RECON”.
