Who/Where has the best deals on reconditioned drills/saws. Looking to supplement my Xmas presents, but would rather not buy new tools I use less frequently.
Thanks
Dave

I use a local electrician from time to time around the house and he swears he only buys refurb Milwaukee from CPO, he swears by them too! FWIW

I got a reconditioned Milwaukee corded 1/2" impact wrench from a local tool store 15 years ago and it still works great. I've loosened innumerable lug nuts with it and tore engines apart and loosened larger nuts... nothing has stopped it so far.

Searching Amazon listings often turns up some good prices for Milwaukee cordless bare tools in new condition

Amazon is not an authorized dealer for Milwaukee, even though some of the Red Tools on their site are listed as "sold by and shipped from Amazon". Just something to be aware of.

CPO here as well, bought a reconditioned M18 Jig-saw and Multi Tool before Christmas from them. Arrived in one day, they work fine. Saved about $20 each by buying the reconditioned units.

Recons offers are interesting and I have bought several different ones in the past. For the most part they all been just fine. My very best purchase was a corded Makita hammer drill in box and certainly seemed like it was never used. Also bought a propane work heater with blower at deep discount. Both these came from local discount retailer of various items.

It's always been satisfactory and have had no problems with using CPO but there have been some recon purchasers that have left reviews saying their tool was dirty or looked quite used and/or beat up. :dunno:

Picked up an early model M12 Milwaukee hex screwdriver off Amazon that was that was serialized on the handle as being refurbished. The discount was so deep I woulnt even care about a warranty.

Tried a cordless Milwaukee circular saw from CPO after last Christmas that was functional but deeply flawed as the guide plate miter setting were marked wrong and off by several degrees and no adjustments could correct it. Some guys could work with that and you would have made your new markings with a sharpie or something but I sent it back. They made it good and issued a refund with no hassles .

The price reduction that flaw just wasn't enough to make that one worthy to me and buying new with a discount promo brought the price with $10 of the recon anyhow plus factoring in the Milwaukee recons 1 yr warranty vs 5 year new from receipted purchase date.

Obviously recon offerings are sometimes limited in tool choices and available inventory

So my understanding is without a purchase/sales receipt Milwaukee goes by serial number on new tools if there is a warranty claim. Now according to what I read dated POP is requested but is not required. Now it also says original purchaser but unless the tool ser# was previously registered what proves your not? Without hesitation I have also bought brand new in box Milwaukee cordless tools for up to 50% off list from other sources.
